About the event

Steinbrenner Theatre presents three One Act shows - Selfie, Spooky Dog and the Teen-Age Gang Mysteries and The Audition.

Selfie by Bradley Hayward (directed by Sydney Rayburn; stage managed by Talia Tedesco)

It’s senior year and problems are mounting for a group of high school students as they prepare for the future. Facing bullies, parents, pressure, sickness, and their own self judgement, the characters search for ways to stand out. As they document their year, one click at a time, they come to realize life is not about what other people see – it’s about the pictures they have of themselves.

Spooky Dog and The Teen-Age Gang Mysteries by Eric Pliner and Amy Rhodes (directed by Adelaide Welker; stage managed by Nikhil Nana)

The show is an outrageous, adult-themed spoof of Scooby-Doo, where a group of groovy teens and their talking dog, Spooky, travel around in their van solving supernatural mysteries. In this case they take a trip down south after hearing a famous friend of theirs is performing at an event. When they arrive, they found out their friend is missing! And apparently this isn’t new. As they try to uncover the truth behind the haunting they are challenged in various ways. Nothing is what it seems, and the mystery gets stranger by the minute. Will they solve the case before it’s too late or will they become the next victims of the spooky town’s secrets?

The Audition by Don Zolidis (directed by Mallory Dayton; stage managed by Aurora Kral)

A new theater teacher is bringing a production of A Chorus Line to the high school. Though the hopefuls range from shy to outrageous, and from diva-like to determined, everyone has a chance to step into the spotlight and show what they’ve got. By exploring the realities of the entertainment industry, The Audition focuses on what it takes for one to pursue their dream and the sacrifices their willing to make.
